Hypnosis is a natural state that you find yourself in several times, every single day. It is a natural state that is akin to daydreaming, which we refer to as being in a hypnotic trance. For example, have you ever driven somewhere, arrived at your destination and wondered how you got there? That is effectively hypnosis…where you were in a daydream state.
Hypnotherapy is therapy conducted under hypnosis. The effectiveness of hypnotherapy lies in the fact that we are working at a subconscious level to affect change, rather than on a conscious level.
The subconscious is like a supercomputer and stores everything about us, including, but not limited to:
- Our thoughts
- Our feelings
- Our belief systems
- Our habits
- Our fears
- Our addictions
- Our emotions
These are programmed into your subconscious as a result of your experiences throughout your life…and even past lives. At some point, though, some of these subconscious programs may become outdated, or prevent you from achieving a goal. Changing these programs to something more effective and helpful requires a change at a subconscious level.
Hypnotherapy allows us to bypass the conscious mind in order to access the subconscious mind. Hypnotherapy can help to change the way a person sees, feels and thinks about certain things; it can help to eliminate unhelpful beliefs that are stopping goals from being achieved; it can dissipate fears and phobias as well as addictions. It can help you with weight management, smoking cessation, pain management, stress, anxiety, depression, performance in sports, academics, work…to name a few. The list of what hypnotherapy can be used to treat is endless, and there is plenty of evidence to support the effectiveness of hypnotherapy as a therapeutic tool.
The areas that I work with can be found by on my TRANSPERSONAL HYPNOTHERAPY page.
There are also a few different styles of hypnotherapy. As a therapeutic tool, there are 2 main categories that I work under:
Clinical Hypnotherapy: works on a mind-body level and uses direct suggestions to affect change. In essence, it is ‘re-programming’ the subconscious. The root causes of issues are not necessarily uncovered and addressed and the lasting effects of the hypnotherapy can vary. It may be that the issue may never resurface; however, if the root cause or trigger still exists within your system, it can just as easily be re-triggered.
Transpersonal Hypnotherapy: works at a holistic level, addressing the mind-body-soul (spirit) connection. Transpersonal hypnotherapy identifies and eliminates the root cause of any issues before re-programming the subconscious with more helpful suggestions. I use a combination of regression (present and past life) hypnotherapy as well as my intuition and energetic tools to identify and eliminate the root cause of issues.
